If you’re planning a destination wedding I’m guessing your super excited. Though as much as you cant wait for you big day there are plenty of logistical obstacles to overcome before your big day. One of the main thing I see getting asked again and again in online forums and from my destination brides is working out How To Get Your Wedding Dress Abroad.

That way you can spend more time looking at wedding venues or finding things to do for your wedding guests when before and after your wedding. Packing Your Wedding Dress
Packing your wedding dress will be one of the first things you’ll need to look into. There are all sorts of bags and boxes for wedding dresses to be transported in. I’m obviously no expert in this put people that are experts in dress and clothing transportation are bridal boutique owners and dry cleaners. Wedding dresses come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and weights. I’d suggest getting as much information as possible and speaking with an expert about your specific dress. These experts may even pack your dress for you saving you a job.
Transport Your Dress As Hand Luggage
This is one option when it comes to the actual transportation of your wedding dress. One of the reasons this is a good option is because you will have your dress with you at all times. You won’t lose your dress in the hold or risk the dress being damaged. This will only work if your dress box is within the hand luggage dimensions given from your airline.
Don’t Book A Wedding Photographer Before Reading This First
Buy A Seat For Your Dress
A more expensive option for sure, though its another option that gives the highest peace of mind. You’ll be able to take the dress out if you’re really concerned. It will be much more comforting know your can literally see and touch the dress on the flight over. If you were taking a dress on as hand luggage you could maybe ask one of the staff if there are any un-purchased or empty seats that you could put your dress on. Maybe you won’t want it next to a stranger, but maybe they would be kind enough to switch seats with you. Another option to consider though.
Post Your Dress Ahead Of Time
This is the least common way when it comes to ways of How To Get Your Wedding Dress Abroad. If you don’t have the luxury of purchasing an extra seat or don’t want to run the risk of it getting damaged in the hold then this could work. Things that could go wrong though when shipping your wedding dress are; the dress could get stolen, damaged, lost or delayed. You can pay for extra tracking and signatures etc though once you let go of the dress it’s out of your hands.
On Your Arrival
Once you’re finally made it to your destination wedding location with your wedding dress safely with you. You’ll want to remove the dress from its protective bag or box and hang it correctly right away. This will give any creases the best chances of fall out. Having a portable steamer with you will allow you to get any creases out that may have resulted in the air travel. When you’re happy with how the dress looks be sure to place it back in its bag and somewhere safe either in a wardrobe or in a spare room out of the way.
